Went out on the new bike today and was knackered after only a few miles.
That’s what happens when you don’t ride much for a week or more and you’re a bloody old fart.
Gotta keep slogging away….gotta keep slogging away…
Anyway, I stopped at the park and took some pics of the bike before I trash it. Oh and a selfie. I look like a Japanese sniper or maybe a Kamikaze Pilot. Fer feck’s sake.
Did a climb up Horseshoe Bay road and barely made it to the top.
Gave up on 15 and headed home defeated and dejected.
Can fitness drain away so quickly or was it just an off-day? Not that I was ever fit mind you, but relatively…
But the new ride feels great. The Timberline 2.0 was more of a recreational bike, not particularly good off-road but a reasonable all-rounder, where the Karakoram is setup more for the trail. It rides nicer, I think largely due to better wheels. The bars are wider so it makes you want to pull off the road and ride the grass verges…good fun. The lockable shocks work great too – less energy going into pumping the shocks on hill-climbs
Tomorrow’s another day.
Must have been an off day. One week isn’t enough time to loose one’s fitness. I always found a little time off was good for me.
I hope so.
I’ve been like a machine for weeks 🙂
Now I’m like a fucking broken old lawn mower again…still a machine though.
Heading out now…into the cold.
Sometimes you just have an off day that defies logic. This is normal.
I hope so,
Getting ready to head out on another trip in a half hour….
